John Joseph's Story

My maternal great grandfather, barely remembered by my grandfather who was born in 1911. A hawker from the poor area of Birmingham, he volunteered for the Birmingham Pals battalion in 1915. He fought at Arras and the Somme, before being fatally wounded at Guillemont, Somme in August 1916. He is buried at Corbie.
