Ernest Edward's Story

My Grandfather enlisted in Devizes on 03/09/14. He served in Gallipoli and Basra in the 5th Battalion Wiltshire Regiment before transferring to the Royal Engineers and serving in India, where is remained until his demob on 31/03/20. He was wounded in Basra, was critically ill with "cerebro spinal fever" and suffered from bouts of malaria for the rest of his life. He was a well respected and much loved man and my family is very proud of his service during the war.
