My great great uncle Plant Eddleston was killed on the Somme on his 25th birthday. My great grandmother was 6 months pregnant at the time and was devastated by the loss so I am told. About one month later she received the news that her husband had been killed on the Somme. Her daughter, my grandmother, never knew her father.
To lose a brother and husband within a month must have been horrendous.
