He, my grandfather, allways went on about the dead men bodies put in the parapit walls and how bits of them would show through.
He served in Gallipolli in 1915 with the 9th West Yorks. Then in july 1916 he went to the Somme and was transfered to the 1st East Yorks where he served till mid 1917. Then back to England after being gassed a number of times. He also earned the M.M on the Somme.
