Thomas's Story

Thomas Newell joined the Grenadier Guards aged 14 on 18-12-1905. He served in France from 19-10-1914 until he returned to England wounded 6-9-1915 and was discharged 28-7-1916 as 'No longer physically fit for War Service'. His brother Harry served in the Rifle Brigade, his brother Frederick served in the Royal Engineers and his brother James served in the Grenadier Guards. His brother-in-law Edward Farrow served in the Ambulance Brigade.
