Albert's Story

I never knew my Great Uncle, who like a lot of my family joined the colours to fight for our country. He served with the 1st Battalion of the West Yorkshire Regiment (Prince of Wales Own).

He was killed in action on 19th September 1918.

Albert was one of three brothers from the Pemberton family of Kirkstall, Leeds who was killed in action, his other two brothers were killed in 1914 and 1918, Sydney in the last week of the war, two months after Albert who had four children.

Albert was killed at Holnon Wood near to St. Quentin.
