Sydney Charles's Story

So far I've not uncovered much of Sid's war. I do know that he served as a private with the 9th Battalion of the Suffolk Regiment and was killed on September 16th 1916. He is rememberd on a panel of the Thiepval memorial in France, and the date of his death suggests, though I'm not certain, that he died in the fighting to take the village of Thiepval from the Germans, which was achieved at the end of September.
