James Albert's Story

I'm off to fight the war, dad. It will be an adventure

Uncle Jim went off as a boy to fight. He was one of six brothers and two sisters. He worked with his brothers at the local mine but Jim preferred to be outdoors. He thought going to fight would give him a break from being in the darkness of the mine. It would be an adventure. After his 'army training' he was sent to Loos where he died. He has no known grave. My family have visited the memorial to place poppies in Jim's name. My late dad was his namesake and like my dad we are all very proud of what he did. Thank you to all who gave their today for our tomorrow. Never forgotten.
