James's Story

He died on the first day of the Battle of the Somme.

James McNaught was Lance Sergeant in the Highland Light Infantry, 17th Battalion. He died on the first day of the Battle of the Somme, 1 July 1916, and is remembered with honour at the Thiepval Memorial.
