Pop was deeply affected by the war and never spoke of it until the day of his death.
Pop was injured in the war when a shell exploded nearby and he was saved by German medic. After the war Pop was awarded three campaign medals and a gallantry medal, but no one in the family knows why he received this medal. He went on to live a happy life, married, and had seven children and 22 grandchildren. We are still proud of him and honoured to have him in our family.
