Gordon's Story

Gordon Barker originated from Halifax, the son of Ester and William. He joined the Coldstream Guards and then in the summer of 1918 after his marriage to Gertrude Kneeshaw he transferred to 2nd Lieutenant in the East Yorkshire Regiment. Sadly Gordon was killed in action 3 weeks before the war ended and before his daughter was born the following spring. He is buried at Awoignt Cemetery.
