Beliefs

The simplest form of Muslim beliefs is summarised in the Declaration of Faith (pictured): "There is no god but Allah, and Muhammad is the messenger of Allah".

Basic articles of faith
Muslims have six main beliefs, called the Articles of Faith. The primary Muslim belief is that there is only one God, called Allah in Arabic.
Sharia
All aspects of a Muslim's life are governed by Sharia. Sharia law comes from a combination of sources including the Qur'an, the sayings of the prophet and the rulings of Islamic scholars.
Jihad
The literal meaning of Jihad is struggle or effort, and it means much more than holy war. It can mean a believer's struggle to live out the faith, the struggle to build a good Muslim society or the struggle to defend Islam, with force if necessary.
Jesus through Muslim eyes
Islam has a literary tradition spanning a millennium and a half of a continuous historical relationship with the figure of Jesus Christ.
Hijab
Hijab is the principle of modesty in Islam and includes behaviour as well as dress for both males and females.
Niqab
Niqab is the term used to refer to the piece of cloth which covers the face, worn by some Muslim women.
