The Pilgrim Consort hold a copy of the Llibre Vermell

The Pilgrim Consort hold a copy of the Llibre Vermell with Brother Manel Gasch

Video from Montserrat Abbey

The Pilgrim Consort sings Salve Montserratina, composed by the Catalan composer and virtuoso cellist Pablo Casals.

The video was shot on the first night of recording. The choir was privileged to be the only choir to record in the Abbey apart from the Escolania (the Abbey's own boys' choir) which is the oldest in Europe.

During the recording of Choral Vespers and Sunday Worship at Montserrat Abbey, the choir was able to see a copy of the original 14th century Llibre Vermell (The red book of pilgrim songs and dances). Several of the pieces used in the programmes are from this book.
