Dr Sandra Scott

Dr Sandra Scott

Sandra Scott qualified as a doctor from the School of Medicine at St Bartholomew's Hospital in 1993 and then trained as a psychiatrist at the Bethlem Royal and Maudsley hospitals.

She now specialises in child psychiatry, and is based at the Maudsley. She also works with Kids Company, a children's charity providing educational and counselling support to children from deprived backgrounds, and is a trustee of ChildHope, a charity dedicated to improving the lives and defending the rights of street children throughout the world.

These days the media increasingly seeks Sandra's advice. She was the weekly 'stress doctor' in the Daily Mail, has worked as a consultant on BBC One's Casualty among other television and film projects, and has written for Good Health and the New Scientist. She has appeared on numerous television programmes including Confidence Lab, Newsnight and Sky News. Sandra is currently writing her first book, The Future of Happiness.

Dr Ros Taylor

Dr Ros Taylor MA MBBhir MRCGP

Dr Ros Taylor trained in medicine at Cambridge University and Westminster Hospital, London and qualified as a doctor in 1980.

She initially pursued a career as a GP in the Lake District but became increasingly interested in the unique challenges that families face when a terminal illness is diagnosed. She left general practice for a career in palliative and hospice medicine and has been medical director of the Hospice of St Francis in Berkhamsted, Hertfordshire, since 1996.

Ros is of the firm belief that the principles that underpin the hospice movement (respect for patient choice, dignity, care for the whole family, the importance of skillful communication) need to be re-instated in mainstream health care. She would like to see a national commitment to improve care of patients at the end of life, as has happened in Canada, with the government sponsored Living Lessons campaign.

In her current post, Ros has both an administrative and clinical role and is leading an exciting project to rebuild the hospice, to give vital extra space and facilities to the growing number of patients and families who are realising the value of palliative care.

Ros Taylor

Ros Taylor

Ros Taylor trained at Glasgow University and worked as a senior clinical psychologist in the NHS before moving into business in 1981. She is managing director of Plus Consulting Ltd, as well as a chartered psychologist and broadcaster.

Ros is no stranger to the world of media. She broadcasts regularly, notably presenting Between Ourselves for BBC Radio Scotland for two years. Her television credits include The Unconscious Mind - a programme on body language for the BBC, and Last Year's Tories - a Cutting Edge documentary for Channel 4.

She has written two books - Transform Yourself!, a book about changing behaviour, and Confidence in Just Seven Days, a book which accompanied the television series. She is currently writing another; Key to the Boardroom, for aspirational managers.
