Roy LeightonRoy studied classical acting at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School and physical theatre with leading Japanese director Tadashi Suzuki in the mountains of north Japan. He has worked in theatre, television and was for a time a member of the BBC radio drama team. On his return to the UK following the Japanese experience in 1987, Roy combined his performing, writing and production skills to set up a regional touring company in Northamptonshire (where he lives) and subsequently an international theatre company. In order to fund these ventures Roy offered presentation and communication training to industry and education which, from the start, has proven both effective and much in demand. Roy is involved in a number of groundbreaking projects in schools around the country looking at creating learning environments for all, and not just a small percentage of students and teachers. His work is a combination of educational philosophy and practical exercises drawing from his own arts, business and learning experience. He is a visiting lecturer at the European Business School (London) where he runs an innovative programme using creativity and brain-compatible learning to help develop the skills for success for the business leaders of the 21st Century and has worked with a number of national and global companies. Roy is a writer and broadcaster and his collaborative book on thinking and learning (The Big Book of Independent Thinking) will be published in 2005.
