Your GP is concerned with the overall health of you and your children. If you visit your GP for injuries resulting from domestic violence or for
depression or anxiety related to the violence then talk to your GP about the violence.
Your GP could help to support you in the following ways:
Treat your injuries and/or depression (which could include referring you for counselling support).
Provide information on or referrals to specialist domestic violence services.
Accurately record your injuries and/or depression and the reasons for them which could be useful evidence of domestic violence in any future civil or criminal court proceedings and/or housing applications. You may be hoping that you won't need to use this evidence but it doesn't hurt to have it just in case.
