Comic Relief: The Fools' Guide
David Tennant looks back at 21 years of Red Nose Day, 3 February, 10.35pm on BBC One
What an incredible journey it's been so far - 21 years after the first Red Nose Day, David Tennant voices Comic Relief: The Fools' Guide. For all aspiring participants, this is the ultimate guide to being funny for money.
On the way you can learn how you might feel when you've got to tap into your funny bone:
"Apart from Prime Minister's Question Time, I don't think I've ever been more nervous" (Tony Blair on his sketch with Catherine Tate).
There are also handy hints on where you might end up:
"I do remember once sending Lenny to Somalia and saying "it's fine now, it's all sorted" and then walking past a radio saying 'fighting breaks out in Somalia again'... The thought that we'd sent Lenny to his death was not a good one" (Richard Curtis).
And there's also a word from the people on the receiving end of a nation's generosity:
"There are some organisations who... when Sudan became more fashionable or Congo... they move to where ...they more easily collect the money. The long term commitment is so important and I think this is the joining together of Comic Relief & us. There is the hell and there is the hope." (Esther Mujawayo, a survivor of the Rwandan civil war who went on to co-found Avega Agahozo, supporting widows of the genocide).
Comic Relief: The Fools' Guide also features behind the scenes footage and interviews from some of Red Nose Day's stars over the years: Victoria Beckham, Lenny Henry, Billy Connolly, Catherine Tate, Jonathan Ross, Graham Norton, Kevin Cahill, Ruth Jones and Rob Brydon.
