Radio 3 has a funny turn
BBC Radio 3 will be adding a touch of humour to proceedings for Red Nose Day, with features including a Breakfast show game of Consequences and a musical quiz planned for Classical Collection on March 18th.
Comedians, including Lenny Henry, will be introducing their favourite classical tunes in Afternoon on 3, whilst the BBC Symphony Orchestra plays backwards and the winner of the station's conducting competition is let loose with the BBC Singers for a live rendition of Handel's Hallelujah Chorus.
Donald Macleod will look at the history of the musical spoof, with the help of silent-film accompanist Neil Brand in a live edition of Composer of the Week.
There will also be a special edition of In Tune with Sean Rafferty, who'll be joined by Barry Humphries, Dame Edna Everage and Les Patterson.
The champion of the six DJ's competing in Stand Up for Comic Relief will be announced, following their comedic turn in front of a live audience last week.
To round it all off Radio 3's Big Red Nose Show, recorded at the Royal Albert Hall and featuring a Guinness World Record attempt for the largest kazoo orchestra, will also be broadcast.
