Sam and Mark 'jumped at chance' to host Glee Club show
Comic Relief Does Glee Club kicks off on Monday 14th March and ends with a live finale on Red Nose Day itself - and the boys can't wait to get started.
What was it that appealed to you about presenting CBBC Glee Club?
Sam: Mark and I love watching talent shows - after all we came from one ourselves - so when we were asked to present the show we jumped at the chance. Plus it's all in aid of Comic Relief which is charity we love to support.
Mark: I love the all singing all dancing element of CBBC Glee Club... and we've got some amazing talent.
You both got your big break on a talent show, do you still perform?
Sam: Only for fun. I'm in a band back home in Barnsley and we get together when we can and do gigs.
Mark: Yeah, I still love to sing but just for fun. We like to leave it to the experts instead! We also love what we're doing now.
Do you have any tips for aspiring stars out there?
Sam: Always be nice to people.
Mark: Don't try and be someone you're not, people like you to be yourself when you're performing! Also enjoy yourself.
What are you looking for in an act?
Sam: Well, thankfully it's the judges and the viewers that have VERY hard decisions to make. If it was me judging though I'd want to see a group that gives me goosebumps and are exciting to watch.
Mark: Well, as hosts we will leave it to our lovely judges and the public to decide but what will get you noticed is obviously talent, confidence and maybe something a little original and different.
What made you want to get involved with Comic Relief?
Sam: It's such a great charity. I've watched Red Nose Day for years so to be a part of helping raise awareness is an honour.
Mark: Comic Relief is an amazing charity that not only does fantastic work in Africa but also domestically too. As soon as we were asked to do such a great show with such a positive message it was really a no-brainer! We were asked to visit Tanzania to see how some of the money was spent, and it really brings it home how lucky we are. Every penny really does make a difference.
Comic Relief Does Glee Club begins on Monday 14th March at 17.15pm on BBC One.
