The Wanted to release Comic Relief single
Brit-nominated boy band The Wanted are set to release this year's official Comic Relief single for Red Nose Day.
Entitled Gold Forever, the single will be offered for download on 13th March and will be available to buy a day later.
Penned by award-winning writers Steve Mac, Wayne Hector and Claude Kelly the track is described by The Wanted’s Max as an "upbeat, feel good track".
He continued: "This song is about a day in your life that you never forget. We're really excited to get it out there, and delighted that it is supporting such a great cause."
The five-piece, made up of Max, Jay, Nathan, Siva and Tom, earned themselves a 2011 Brit nomination with debut single All Time Low, with their self-titled first album also notching up a place in the top five.
Jay said the boys grew up watching Red Nose Day as children and that it was an "honour" to be involved.
Nathan added: "Comic Relief is a British institution and something everyone wants to be part of. It's an amazing charity and we’re thrilled to be involved."
Previous Comic Relief singles have come from the likes of British pop icons including Spice Girls, McFly and Girls Aloud/Sugababes.
The Wanted kick of their first headline tour in the UK on 28th March.
