About Red Nose Day
Terms and Conditions
1. You can sponsor the Radio 1's Climb Kilimanjaro for Comic Relief team by texting the word CLIMB to 88808*. Your support will result in a £1 donation to Comic Relief for each text message that you send. Please note that in addition to the £1 donation, you will incur your standard network message charge (based on your service provider rates). The amount of your donation (and what you are charged) may - in some instances - be slightly lower than £1 depending on the adjustments that your mobile service provider made to address the current temporary VAT reduction from 17.5 per cent to 15 per cent.
2. The mobile network operators below have waived their charges in order to allow the full £1 cost of the bounce-back message (described below) to go entirely to support Comic Relief 3, O2, Orange, T-Mobile, Virgin and Vodafone. In addition, HM Treasury have confirmed that no VAT should be charged on these donations and HMRC are working with the mobile operators to ensure that this is the case.
3. You can send a text message between 06:30 on 27th February 2009 and 23:59 on 31st March 2009.
4. Please ensure you spell the keyword "CLIMB" carefully and send your text message to the correct short code 88808.
5. If your keyword and short code are valid, and your text message is received within the specified times and dates, you will be charged £1 via a bounce-back message. It may take some time for you to receive the bounce-back message. Please wait until you receive it.
6. If your keyword or short code are invalid, or your text message is received outside the specified times and dates, you may not receive a bounce back but may still be charged your standard network message charge. You will not be charged the £1 donation as you will not be donating to Comic Relief.
7. All supporters must obtain permission from the bill payer before sending a text message. If you are under 16 years old, you must have your parent or guardian's permission to send a text donation to us.
8. If you would like to contribute more cash to support the Red Nose Climb, you can donate online through the following website: www.rednoseday.com/climb
9. Comic Relief, the BBC, Buongiorno and their sub-contractors, subsidiaries and/or agencies cannot accept any responsibility whatsoever for any technical failure or malfunction or any other problem with any telephone network or line, system, server, provider or otherwise which may result in any text being lost or not properly received.
10. The SMS service is provided by Buongiorno. If you have any queries regarding the service, please contact Buongiorno at the following address Buongiorno, 57-63 Scrutton Street, London EC2A 4PF or on the following Helpline Number - 0800 666 810.
11. Comic Relief is a registered charity, number 326568 (England & Wales) and SC039730 (Scotland). To get involved with Comic Relief in different ways, go to www.rednoseday.com/climb.
* In the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man, only Cable & Wireless subscribers will be able to make a donation through this shortcode. All other subscribers will be charged for the text as per their service provider charges and will not be donating to Comic Relief.
