Analogue TV – Delayed signal

Ghosting

Ghosting on your TV screen is caused by a delayed signal. This is when part of the signal from the transmitter comes direct to your TV aerial, while another part of the signal is reflected from a hill, a building or some other large object in the area.

What to do

Check your TV aerial - adjusting or replacing it could help.

  • Change the angle of your aerial, even slightly, and see if the picture is improved.
  • Or replace it with a more directional aerial that focuses on the main part of the signal and ignores other parts.

Important: checking, repairing or installing an aerial
We suggest that any work on your aerial is carried out by a professional aerial installer registered with the CAI (Confederation of Aerial Industries).
