Abstract
Major
changes to the BBC's Public Service Digital Television
(PSDTV) services have taken place during the last
eighteen months. These have had a significant impact
on the BBC's technical architecture for digital television,
with infrastructure in London and national centre
in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland requiring
major change and expansion. This paper outlines the
service developments and describes the architectural
changes needed to support them under three main categories
- statistical multiplexing, time-exclusive services,
and enhanced interactive services.
