DBS pay television: picture signal scrambling.
Picture signal scrambling methods suitable for a DBS MAC pay television channel are described. They use a technique known as 'rotation scrambling', which is shown to meet the likely requirements for picture quality, security against piracy, scrambling effectiveness and cost. The methods have been tested using experimental equipment and the results have led to an agreement within the EBU to incorporate them into the MAC specification.
