PROJECTS:
My-e-Director 2012
My-e-Director 2012, Real-Time Context-Aware and Personalized Media Streaming Environments for Large Scale Broadcasting Applications is a three-year
collaborative project funded under the EU’s Framework 7 programme.
The project is developing a system to generate personalised coverage of large events such as the Olympics, by gathering information on what is happening
at the event, and the preferences of individual viewers. Methods for identifying and tracking athletes from camera images will be used, together with
information from other sources such as the scoring system.
My-e-Director 2012 is an extension to the ‘Automated Coverage’ concept that we developed several years ago, which used image-based player tracking
to control robotic cameras and operate a vision mixer to produce coverage of events such as a tennis match.
Our work will include the development of player tracking and identification methods, as well as liaison with BBC Sport to provide user requirements and
assistance with field trials.
