The MetaVision project was an EU-funded 5th Framework IST project developing a production system which captures additional image information at the camera (in the form of depth data and high frame-rate images) to assist in post-production. The project ran for three years from October 2000, and was led by Snell & Wilcox.
The BBCs role was primarily concerned with capturing depth information and looking at how it could be applied to help tasks such as integrating real and virtual objects. Results of our work were presented at IBC2001, 3DPVT2002, IBC2002, and IBC2003. Our development of 'Flash Keying' also came out of our contribution to MetaVision.
