In the Edit Suite
All of the studio recordings are available in the edit suite directly from the MediaHarmony server, in both browse and production qualities, for offline and online editing, as required. As the content is already in a native format that the editing system can handle, no ‘import’ processing is required, which means editing work can start immediately.

Automation helps further in this process by using the details from the log to create either an ALE (Avid Log Exchange) or AAF file which, when opened in the editor, immediately populates the edit bin with all the clip details, including the comments noted by the PA during the recording. By using AAF, we can additionally produce multicam groups so that all sources in a take, e.g. Main, Iso1 and Iso 2, are presented in the editor as a synchronised group.

A further benefit of this overall process is that the video quality is better. By encoding directly from the studio sources we are avoiding the encoding stage which is inherent in Digibeta recording and so the content being editing has been encoded only once.
