Introduction
We will be using this web page for information on the progress and status of the open source software development that is a reference implementation of the Media Dispatch protocol. This software is available on SourceForge and free to download and use, either standalone or incorporated into other systems. As part of our development plans we intend to test representative exchanges in the next few months.
For further details see the Pro-MPEG web site. |

The Media Dispatch Project aims to promote a standard way of exchanging media files and their metadata between loosely coupled storage systems.
There are many applications throughout the media industry, both within companies and between companies. Some examples are:
- From a production department to a broadcast playout department.
There are many way of solving this problem and file transfer technologies are well established. However many of the exchanges require manual interaction to set the parameters.
Media Dispatch provides a framework to allow us to discover, negotiate and perform such media transactions, with either manual initiation or completely automatically. |
