James Sandford joined the BBC in 2012 as a Trainee Research Technologist. During his traineeship, he has worked on innovative new methods of down-sampling high frame rate video, the design of a new form of low power network attached storage and has explored audio metering and mixing within BBC R&Ds IP Studio environment.

Since completing his traineeship in 2014, James has been working with BBC R&Ds User Experience team on accessibility. His work has included user research into the affect of subtitle rate on enjoyment and methods of working with subtitles in the IP Studio environment.
