Bruce Weir is a Senior Engineer at BBC R&D. He received a BSc in Physics from the University of Sheffield and a PhD from the University of Cambridge, where he studied the crystallography of thin-film organic displays. He has worked at the BBC since 2000.
Bruce has worked on a wide-variety of projects in R&D, including fly-throughs of Wimbledon Tennis Club blending live action and computer graphics, multiplexing schemes for avoiding impulsive interference in RF systems, algorithms for amplifying subtle signals in video, and novel methods for displaying video in Virtual Reality Headsets. He is currently working on client-side web applications to augment existing video with rich data overlays.
