Anthony Churnside joined BBC R&D in 2008 after completing an MSc in Audio Acoustics at the University of Salford. He specialises in designing and creating next generation audio experiences and broadcasting systems. Tony also advises television, radio and multi-platform productions on how to make the best creative use of current technology. Tony is Technical Director of the relaunched Radiophonic Workshop and is a committee member of the Radio Festival and The International Broadcasting Convention. Tony regularly publishes academic papers and has presented his work all over the world. He has written articles for specialist publications such as 'Broadcast', 'Television' and 'iTech' and has appeared in various media, including BBC News, Sky News, ITN, NPR and BBC Radio 4 and BBC World Service. Tony was honoured with The Royal Television Society's Young Technologist 2010 award and is responsible for The BBC Philharmonic Maestro project which, in 2012, was nominated for Design Week and Webby awards and was given a One Show Interactive Award.
