"Cecilia and Bryn at Glyndebourne" in HD

The BBC and Playback HD decided to make "Cecilia and Bryn at Glyndebourne" in 1250-line HD to celebrate the event's significance. Not only did the producers believe that this would appeal to the growing number of HD viewers worldwide, but it also allowed them to take advantage of the superb location. The introduction sequence was formed from location shots over the opera house and the Glyndebourne estate. Three HD9000 cameras located in the orchestra were used for the overture and main coverage of the concert used six HD9000 cameras mounted in the auditorium. The judges felt that the producers had overcome severe acquisition difficulties to achieve a high quality result.

Italian mezzo-soprano Cecilia Bartoli and bass-baritone Bryn Terfel give a concert at Glyndebourne opera house, with the London Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Myung-Whyn Chung. Featuring duets from Mozart's "The Marriage of Figaro" and "Don Giovanni", Rossini's "The Barber of Seville" and Donizetti's "The Elixir of Love".

Producer - Nigel Shepherd, Playback HD.
