Talk Back Message Board

...All creatures continue to adapt to their circumstances over time. This doesn't mean they get "better and stronger" - the opposite can happen. In the case of some birds, their ability to fly reduces or disappears; in the case of certain cave-dwelling creatures sight is lost completely. Natural selection is the sieve that determines "fitness"...

Across the Line

...For the latest in our series of instant messenger chats, Rigsy catches up with Ian from A Plastic Rose to discuss the bands forthcoming single launch, their general ascendancy and how they managed to write one of the tracks of the year...

Talkback was Northern Ireland's first news phone-in programme and has been on air for more than 20 years. For many years it was a sounding board for the public to react and comment on the sectarian violence of the troubles and the development of the peace process. Today the agenda reflects the changing shape of Northern Ireland - topics like anti-social behaviour, hospital cleanliness and devolution issues are now high on the agenda. It is presented by Wendy Austin, one of NI's best known broadcasters.

    The Dublin Child Abuse Report

10 days on from the publication of the Murphy Report, which revealed a systemic cover-up of abuse by priests, why hasn't a single Catholic bishop implicated in the report resigned? Bishop Donal McKeown joins Andrew Madden, a survivor of abuse in Dublin, and commentators Michelle Marken and Brian Feeney, to assess the Catholic hierarchy's reponse to the report. • Podcast artwork for A Short History of IrelandA Short History of Ireland

In 1939 a divided Ireland held her breath on the brink of the Second World War. Almost a quarter of a century later she swayed on the edge of a fresh conflict - Terence O’Neill was the new Prime Minister of Northern Ireland and the Troubles were just around the corner. What happened in the years between these two great turning points? In 60 episodes, 'A Short History of Ireland' brings the events, the leading characters and the ordinary people to life. The series is written by Dr. Jonathan Bardon and is a continuation of his 240 part 'A Short History of Ireland' for BBC Radio Ulster. The narrators are Cherrie McIlwaine, Patrick FitzSymons, Sean Crummey and Dr. Jonathan Bardon.
