You and Yours
John Waite
Image: John Waite
BORN: Winston Anthony John Waite named after, according to my father, three great men, Churchill, Eden and himself! Born in Stoke and raised in Kidsgrove in the Potteries which was a good deal more "kids" than "grove".

FAMILY: Married to Cate with two sons and two daughters.

CV: BBC Graduate News Trainee (including stint as You and Yours producer in 1975), presenter Radio London, joined Radio 4 in 1986, since when I've presented You and Yours and Face the Facts. I've also presented a number of documentaries for Radio 4 including Strangers on the Shore , It's My Story and more recently I teamed up with Rory Bremner for the comedy series Some of our Pilots Are Missing.

BEST MOMENT IN CAREER: Presenting a special programme for my cousin Terry Waite, which he did manage to hear in his Beirut hostage cell.

WORST MOMENT IN CAREER: Being so keen to get my microphone close to Prince Charles I stood heavily on his toe.

PET HATES: The Honours system.

PET LOVES: Curries (preferably strong), operas (preferably emotional) and my young children (preferably asleep!)
