The vegan grocer up for a food 'oscar'.

Next week the NEC in Birmingham will be hosting what Jamie Oliver calls “ the oscars of the food world”. Radio 4’s Food and Farming awards 9th annual bash aims to honour all sections of the industry that feeds us. This week on You and Yours, we’ll be hearing from the four finalists in the Best Local Retailer section and, we’re starting in Manchester. The Unicorn Grocery in Chorlton is a co-operative which has been supplying vegan produce to its passionately loyal customers for 12 years and now boasts a 3 and half million pound annual turnover. The awards’ judges, retail analyst Robert Clark and editor of the BBC Good Food magazine, Gillian Carter have been down for a closer look.
