The pleasures of a good Trollope.
A classic book, said Alan Bennett, is one "that everyone is assumed to have read and often think they have." Publishers, it seems, are rather more bullish about the classics right now, with Bloomsbury the latest to enter the market with their new list next week. Vintage launched their own 'Future Classics' recently, and Arrow, Headline and Wordsworth are all busy beefing up their collections. Penguin meanwhile has just launched its Red Classics series, and this week will celebrate the 60th birthday of the famous black spines. We speak with, among others, Boris Johnston and Joanne Harris.
