Mersey Basin

Mersy Basin clean-up 25 years on.

When Gerry Marsden recorded "Ferry across the Mersey" in 1964 the land might have been a place he loved but the river was pretty much an open sewer. It’s taken 25 years to put that right in one of the biggest clean-ups of a river system anywhere in the world. Richard Wells reports from the Mersey.
