Fruit pickers
26/09/07
Excess fruit goes to good cause.

Have you got an apple or pear in your garden that is simply weighed down by all the fruit and you’re never going to get rounds to eating it? Well one group of  gardeners in Sheffield have an answer..they’ll come and collect the fruit and distribute it to people who will eat it. The Abundance project was launched a few weeks ago by two friends in the city to pick unwanted fruit and take it to local Sure Start projects. They’re also planning to map as many fruit trees as they can – so their job is easier next year. Kate Betts went to meet them as they hunted through Sheffield’s suburbs for apples
