In the Catalan mountains there are now officially three acts of carelessness that could cost you rather a lot of money: hiking without proper gear, not heeding warning signs and calling a rescue team out when you don’t really need one.

The Langdale and Ambleside Mountain Rescue Team have already attended their hundredth incident of 2009 – a milestone they didn’t expect to reach before December.
