One of the country’s largest development companies has pulled out of a plan to build houses on the site of what was the biggest asbestos factory in the world. It's a case that highlights the complexity - and cost - of cleaning up contaminated land for development. You and Yours has been reporting on CountrySide Properties plans to build 600 houses on the site of the Turner Brothers asbestos factory in Rochdale for 2 and half years. The development has been criticised by local campaigners, Rochdale Council, and the advertising standards authority and now CountrySide properties has pulled out of the deal.
