Restricted council funding leaves elderly without help at home
Many elderly and people with disabilities need help at home. It may be that a person is not classed as ill, so does not come under the NHS for care, but still needs some extra help in order to live indepedently within their own home, like assistance with dressing and meals. According to the Commission for Social Care Inspection, that help is now available to fewer people than before. The Commission for Social Care Inspection regulate care services and they have brought out their State of Social Care report, which looks at availability and quality of care. They say that many councils have restricted funding to those who are in most severe need, leaving many to do without help or fund it themselves.
