Citizens Advice Bureau launch campaign to highlight issues regarding overpayment of tax credits
This week the Citizens’ Advice Bureau started a campaign to draw attention to continuing problems with Tax Credits. There have been huge problems with overpayments from the start the sheer complexity of the system has been blamed that and computer failures. The system was reformed in 2003 but still the overpayments persist. A Committee of MPs calculated that £5.8 billion pounds was over paid during one three year period and that much of the debt would have to be written off.
