  Happisburgh Lighthouse 2 Feb 2006
The only independently run lighthouse in Great Britain

Happisburgh lighthouse is the only indpendently run lighthouse in Britain and was built in the 18th century after 70 sailing ships and 600 men were lost off the Norfolk coast in a severe winter storm. A group of local women saved it from closure in the 1980's and now manage the building.

Woman's Hour reporter Jill Hopkins meets some of the original members.
