Cookery writer shows how to make a perfect salad for the autumn

If you spent the Bank Holiday in the North West of England you'll have thought summer was over and you've put the heating on - whilst in the South East there was no hint of impending autumn.

Our salad recipe is for those oop north to try right now - and people down south can ready themselves because their turn will come.

The Sunday Telegraph food writer Diana Henry shows Anna McNamee how to give a traditional French salad an Irish twist, making it a perfect salad for the autumn season.
