Sonette Ehlers has invented a controversial new device called the Rapex, which is worn like a tampon and in the event of rape will attach itself to the perpetrator's penis. However it has fuelled an angry reaction from women's groups in the country.
Jenni talks to Sonette and also discusses why rape is escalating in South Africa and what solutions need to be put into place to protect its women and children.
