  Vesna Goldsworthy 19 April 2005
On her new book Chernobyl Srawberries

Vesna Goldsworthy was the pampered child of a Serbian middle-class couple, a top student at Belgrade University and a poet who performed her work to a crowd of 30,000 people.

In 1986, aged twenty-four, she left Yugoslavia for Britain to marry an Englishman.

She tells Jenni how it felt to be watching the war raging back in her Balkan homeland and why cancer made her re-evaluate what it means to be both Yugoslavian and British.
