  Poinsettia 14 December 2004
a burst of Christmas colour

If you haven't already bought one for yourself, it's pretty likely that over the holiday period, you'll receive one as a present. It might be in traditional red, minimalist white or the newly fashionable pink.

The Poinsettia is the houseplant we now most associate with Christmas. The bursts of colour are not flowers, but 'bracts' or modified leaves.

Corinne Julius finds out about these seasonal decorations from the garden designer Julie Toll.
