Didsbury Reading Group 11 November 2004
celebrating 30 years of reading together

It's about ten years since we suddenly became aware that book clubs were popping up all over the country as groups of friends got together, chose a book they would all read and then met to discuss it.

The Didsbury book group in South Manchester was way ahead of the trend and this month celebrates 30 years of reading together.  In 1974 they decided on women only membership and meet every 4-6 weeks at each other's houses on a Friday night, concentrating mainly on women novelists.

Rebecca Sandles went to the anniversary meeting to find out more.
