  Obituary: Margaret Simey 29 July 2004  
Merseyside's socialist reformer and activist

One of Liverpool's most formidable politicians Margaret Simey died on Tuesday, aged 98.

Mrs Simey became a household name in the 1980's when she was Chairman of Merseyside Police Authority during the Toxteth riots. 

Her son talks about his mother and her life in politics.
