A stylish addition to a picnic hamper

One of Jane Austen's most biting scenes is the one in Emma where they all go on a picnic to Box Hill. Emma insults Miss Bates and is roundly ticked off by Mr. Knightly. But what food would they have taken with them?

Anna MacNamee talks to the  food writer Hattie Ellis at her home in Lewes where they prepared the sort of picnic pie Jane Austen might have dined on.
